Vice President of Finance Responsibilities

ResCare is looking for an individual who has a proven track record of providing financial, analytical and strategic leadership in growth-focused organizations to join ResCare’s Home Care Executive Leadership Team.  The Vice President of Finance will be directly involved in developing and implementing financial, operational and strategic initiatives which support and align with organizational goals and objectives. This is an ideal position for a hands-on leader who has experience in improving performance in a metrics-driven environment.
The Vice President of Finance is responsible for directing the financial reporting functions of ResCare Home Care Services accordance with the Company’s financial management practices.  As a member of the HomeCare senior leadership team, this position will be actively engaged with strategy and operational activities that support the segment’s growth objectives and goals.  The position will lead operational finance, analytics, planning, and implementation and evaluation of performance improvements across the organization. Works with internal stakeholders at all levels to identify measure and communicate opportunities for operational and financial performance improvement within broader organizational goals and strategies.  Directs planning and evaluation of efforts that focus on key strategic objectives of the organization.  Identifies and communicates areas of focus and metrics to monitor the achievement of goals and strategies.

Essential Responsibilities/Job Duties

• Work closely with and serve as the business partner to the Division President and Regional Vice Presidents and participate as a member of the HomeCare Services leadership team  
• Lead and facilitate the planning process, monitor financial performance, report financial and operational results and drive improvements in operations, processes and systems
• Partner with operations to develop key metrics; drive improvements in key performance/outcome measures; and provide regular reports to management to help them manage the business
• Oversee the forecasting process to ensure a high level of transparency and accuracy  
• Provide monthly reporting packages and drive solutions-focused management reviews of segment performance
• Preparation and reporting of daily, weekly and monthly data and performance measures; support  Operational Excellence KPIs and continuous improvements in performance
• Oversee financial modeling of new strategic, business development and operational initiatives
• Assist with the design and implementation of corporate metrics and financial models for tracking and performance measurements 
• Assess the financial returns and support the profitable growth of the business through contract performance analysis and RFP and future contracts  
• Support site level financial performance reviews to include management and reporting on month end close
• Develop management reports for performance including operating budget results, budget expenditures, variance reporting and audit 
• Gather, consolidate and analyze operating and financial results, including analysis of quarterly trends and drivers and budget variance analysis
• Develop independent point of view on risks and opportunities
• Recruit, evaluate, develop and retain a productive and highly engaged department
• Develop a positive, team-based and achievement-oriented work culture for staff
• Model and reinforce actions consistent with the Company’s values, vision and culture in line with the core leadership competencies

Specific Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or business administration required.  CPA and/or Master's degree in business administration or related field preferred.
• 7-10 years' experience in healthcare finance, accounting, financial planning, performance management strongly preferred
• Skilled at developing financial plans, budgets, guidelines and procedures.
• Experience in Six Sigma/Lean/Kaizen/Continuous Improvement desired 
• Strong technical writing and financial analysis skills for the reporting and presentation of financial information to executive management
• Must be a self-motivated team player who can credibly and effectively communicate with operations, all functions and the finance organization
• Ability to prioritize and manage concurrent projects, demonstrates initiative, and work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong leader with the ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization, with the experience and ability to motivate, manage, rally, and mentor their team
• Demonstrate the ability to apply logic and critical thinking skills when gathering and analyzing data
• Ability to articulate complex concepts to business users in a clear and concise manner
• Ability to interpret business requirements and document/develop effective BI solutions
• Ability to implement new change management ideas within a diverse organization

Working Conditions

• Typical office environment
• Infrequently lifting and carrying items up to 10 lbs.
• Infrequently twisting or bending at the waist or reaching overhead
• Frequently listening to and talking with team members  either in person or by telephone
• Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a computer display, keyboard, and mouse.
• Travel will be required.
