ABA Therapy Assistant – RWW BMAC Responsibilities

Implements treatment plan objectives with the aim of enhancing each client’s living, learning, social, and communication skills. Emphasizes the safety of identified clients and other individuals.  Complies with program procedures including timely submission of documentation, and adherence to designated clinical processes which include maintaining behavior data, participating in clinical training and meetings, and implementing behavior-analytic interventions.  Works under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Abides by and demonstrates the company’s Mission, Vision, and Quality Way through both behavior and job performance on a day-to-day basis.
  • Implements treatment plan objectives which entail reducing client target behaviors, shaping functional communication habits, teaching adaptive living skills, and enhancing learning readiness and functional play skills.
  • Teaches independent functioning and pro-social behavior to clients through means of modeling and other evidence based strategies.  
  • Ensures safety, support and appropriate training for person receiving services, while fostering independent functioning. 
  • Observes and assists with activities of daily living, including eating, toileting, and daily hygiene.
  • Collects data on client target behaviors and target skills as deemed necessary by functional assessment.  
  • Updates a daily service log that documents the time, date, location, and hours of services provided to the client, in addition to a brief synopsis that describes the practical nature of services provided.      
  • Attends weekly professional development and clinical review meetings unless otherwise excused by supervisor. 
  • Maintains and submits documentation in the format and timelines required by the Company, facility, local, state and federal regulations.
  • Review client’s progress with supervisor on an as needed basis. 
  • As appropriate, provides modeling, coaching, and feedback on treatment plan objectives and principles of applied behavior analysis in an effort to encourage family involvement. 
  • Coordinates with the BCBA when considering modification to technique when barriers and challenges occur that prohibit implementation of plan and as otherwise clinically indicated. 
  • Serves as a Mandated Reporter of suspicion of neglect or abuse.  Notifies the appropriate State Protective Service (Child or Adult) as appropriate.
  • Participates in the team process; provides input and effective intervention strategies.  Attends team and educational meetings.  
  • Uses appropriate methods and tools in all teaching and training activities, including those associated with transitioning to new environments or from program supports.
  • Maintains the highest standard of professional conduct in relation to information that is confidential in nature.  Shares information only when the recipient’s right to access is clearly established and the sharing of such information is clearly in the best interest of the person served.
  • Adheres to and participates in Company’s mandatory HIPAA & FERPA privacy program / practices and Business Ethics and Compliance programs / practices.
  • Attends, participates in and/or conducts internal staff development programs, obtains continuing education as required by Company policy and regulations.
  • Maintains and enhances behavior training skills.
  • Performs other duties assigned in response to the person serviced, office and/or program needs.
  • Reviews and adheres to all Company policies and procedures.

Specific Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED 
  • Demonstrates effective and professional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Reasonable understanding of the unique needs of cognitively impaired individuals is generally required

Additional Information

ABA Therapy Assistant position in a center-based ABA program providing intensive services to children ages 2-5 with autism spectrum disorder and related conditions. Our program focuses on reducing challenging behavior and increasing functional communication skills, adaptive skills and learning readiness skills. Ideal candidate will have ABA experience, Discrete Trial Training (DTT) experience, and/or working with children on the Autism spectrum.
