As a(n) Benefits Coordinator you will: 

  • Assists in the administration of company sponsored Health & Welfare programs including medical, vision life and disability.
  • Responds to benefit inquiries from employees on benefits enrollments, life events and other general inquiries.
  • Performs audits of benefit plan programs and premiums to ensure accurate setup for employees based on line of business. 
  • Investigates and resolves administrative problems with carriers/vendors.
  • Assists with the coordination of annual enrollment including proper plan setup, configuration and testing of third party benefit administration system.
  • Works with third party administrator to ensure timely completion of 5500 Forms and handles annual distribution of SAR.
  • Participates in annual benefit surveys.
  • Assists with the administration of the 401(k) retirement savings plan. 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of unionized benefit programs and policies. Manages union benefit eligibility and responds to employee questions regarding benefit offerings. 
  • Participates in ongoing administration calls with vendors to ensure issues are addressed and managed to completion.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years’ experience in benefit administration
  • Experience in the development and delivery of benefit programs.  
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products

Additional Information

This position will focus heavily on FMLA/GLOA administration, which includes having all the necessary paperwork filled out, notifying employees about the details of their leave, and closely documenting their leave. The ideal candidate should be able to handle these duties, as well as be knowledgeable about all relevant FMLA/GLOA laws and practices. In addition to FMLA/GLOA administration, this position will also focus on benefits administration, which entails being knowledgeable about our benefits and being able to answer any questions employees may have about them.We are looking for a bright, knowledgeable, and motivated individual who excels in meeting deadlines and enjoys communicating with employees and outside parties.Essential Job Responsibilities• Initiate, approve, and document FMLA/GLOA• Coordinate LOAs, FMLA usage and other issues as required by our in-house regulations and legal requirements• Stay up to date and inform HR team of changes to company benefits including, but not limited to, insurances, PTO, SHARE program• Consult with employees regarding eligibility and other issues• Act as the point of contact for any and all benefits or leave of absence concerns or questions• Assist employees with enrolling in medical, dental and vision insurance plans• Provide ongoing support for the HR team• Other duties as assignedQualifications/Education• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration-Human Resources• Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in benefits• Strong knowledge of FMLA, GLOA, COBRA, and other HR related laws a must• Familiarity with ADP preferred• Strong analytical skills; excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail; outstanding communication skills, both written and oral• Proficient in Excel with good knowledge of MS Office and software applications• Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data analysis/ statistical methods
