Business Development Leader - Garland - WFS Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing the project's programmatic activities and operations. Reviews, recommends, reports and implements programs to ensure that the project meets contractual obligations and compliance issues. Analyzes processes and procedures to optimize performance. Defines and sets operational goals. Prioritizes assignments and adjusts or adapts service delivery as needed. May supervisor staff.

  • Understand all technical aspects of the operational units.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and policies related to welfare and workforce programs.
  • Maximize performance and productivity.
  • Direct/delegate staff responsibilities to meet and/or exceed performance standards.
  • Facilitate meetings with partners to promote full, frequent communication.
  • Review staff performance and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate training activities to ensure that all operations staff are properly trained to implement project activities effectively.
  • Participate in development and maintenance of standard operating procedures.
  • Specific Requirements

  • Related Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in workforce service programs (TANF, WIA, One-Stop Operation, etc.).
  • Experience organizing, planning and developing program operations at a supervisory level.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Detailed program knowledge.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and human resource management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel between operation sites, attend meetings, events as directed.
  • Additional Information

    Additional Duties Include:• Builds relationships with local employers, and maintains contact on a monthly basis to identify job openings, alternative workactivities (OJT) and training initiatives.• Ensures employers satisfaction with services• Develops innovative plans and activities that build relationships with employers and employer groups in high demand industry sectors• Interprets Labor Market Information to assist Talent Development Specialists in matching job seekers• Participates actively in local business organizations and other community groups serving employers• Conducts outreach and maintains relationships with employers• Develops a robust inventory of work-based learning opportunities in targeted industry sectors• Conducts targeted job development as needed for specific program participants with needs not met by available inventory of openings• Identifies industry trends and needs in the community and communicates with program management so additional activities can be incorporated to meet business needs• Maintains follow-up contact with employers to determine satisfaction with services and plan for quality improvement• Schedule all Hiring Events in your respective Career Center, maximizing space while demonstrating outstanding customer service exemplified in RAYS training to employers as our primary customer.• Manage all data entry initiatives for Hiring Events and Job Fairs to ensure that performance is captured by collaborating with Talent Development Leaders, assigning data entry tasks, ensuring accountability and following up.Additional Requirements:• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience• At least 2 years of experience in business or public administration• Knowledge of: Workforce Board and partner programs & services; community and civic resources; interviewing techniques & principles; agency policy; computer applications
