Business Services Consultant WBL Responsibilities

 The Business Solutions Consultant (BSC) coordinates the outreach and provision of services to employers throughout the region with the unique goal of offering strategic work-based learning opportunities as a resource to the businesses. Work-based learning opportunities include but are not limited to: subsided employment, on-the-job training, community work experience, internships, and apprenticeships.

Essential job responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Project Director and in collaboration with Board Business Services staff, the BSC will:

  • Develop and manage strategic employer relationships yielding sufficient work-based-learning opportunities for all Programs within the AJC (TANF, WIOA, Youth, and Re-entry).
  • Engage in business development planning and employer outreach activities.
  • Serve as the resident expert on work-based learning best practices and strategies.
  • Create screening and referral tools to empower JSC staff to match candidates with available work-based-learning opportunities.
  • In collaboration with JSC staff, coordinate the fulfillment of all work-based-learning opportunities available.
  • Serve as a liaison between the worksite and the JSC to ensure timeline support is offered to participants engaged in work-based learning.
  • Maintain all records (electronic and paper) related to work-based learning activities as per policy and programmatic needs.

Specific Requirements

Related Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, or equivalent work experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated customer service skills. Familiarity with the communities being served, with knowledge and understanding of local needs and resources. Demonstrated knowledge of labor market trends. Public speaking experience. Demonstrated computer skills, with experience using Microsoft Office software programs.
