As a(n) Career Development Specialist (In House Counselor) you will: 

Assists program participants in developing vocational goals reflective of their skills, capabilities and interests. Manages participants’ progress towards achieving goals by creating and updating plans.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Meets with Participants to identify barriers to employment & develop strategies to manage these issues.
  • Maintains complete, accurate and timely case notes and related records in manual and or electronic systems.
  • Outreach to referrals who fail to show for an appointment.
  • Create, update and ensure completion of plans according to contract deadlines.
  • Attends scheduled supervision meetings to discuss participants progress.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • culturally sensitive;
  • strong organizational skills.
  • Must be computer literate and have MS Word and Excel skills at a minimum, and the ability to learn specialized databases and software systems.
  • Bilingual a plus.

Additional Qualifications/Requirements:Qualifications:• Demonstrated ability to counsel at-risk youth using strengths-based coaching.• Trained in crisis intervention, trauma and resiliency informed practices and cultural competencies.• Highly skilled and self-motivated to develop curriculum and facilitate learning in trauma recovery and chemical dependency recovery. May also implement curriculum on communication, conflict resolution, emotional regulation, trauma, mindfulness, thinking errors and other relevant skills acquisition. • Should be able to maintain detailed records and complete accurate assessments efficiently. • Ability to coach youth in one-on-one settings and/or group facilitation. Requirements:• CADC I or II and a Bachelor’s degree in the mental health field a must. • Master’s degree in the mental health field preferred.• Two years’ mental health or addiction recovery work experience with adolescents.
