Community Engagement Coordinator - RWS Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements comprehensive community engagement plans under the Community Support for Work model that result in full resident saturation and community cultural shift that values work
  • Conducts marketing; develops marketing plans and materials, trains staff on their use and appropriate messaging
  • Works collaboratively with a broad array of community agencies and companies to build Community Support for Work, identify candidates, and develop support for Jobs Plus members
  • Collects and incorporates members success stories into marketing efforts
  • Works with NYCHA, HRA, Workforce1 Centers, and other agencies to establish and conduct onsite Community Support for Work activities
  • Screens candidates for Community Coach positions; works with the Program Director and HR to facilitate the hiring process for Community Coaches
  • Trains Community Coaches in their roles and responsibilities; ensures the have the tools and techniques to carry-out their position responsibilities
  • Supervises, coaches, and mentors Community Coaches; works collaboratively with them to establish goals and manage their performance to those goals
  • Establishes and manages communications to a targeted lists of potential Jobs Plus members; uses texting, e-mail and other means to conduct outreach
  • Establishes and maintains the Jobs Plus program presence on social media sites to communicate with potential and current members
  • Develops relationships with community businesses to support Jobs Plus member efforts
  • Works collaboratively with co-workers to support all Community Support for Work efforts and to leverage resources to carry-out plans

Specific Requirements

  • The Community engagement Coordinator must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer service and marketing skills
  • Experience in community-based outreach
  • Familiarity with the communities being served, partner agencies, the program priorities, and targeted populations are preferred
  • Public speaking experience and skills preferred. Bi-lingual preferred. 

Education/Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Related Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in sales, marketing, business, human resources, or human services.
  • 3-5 years’ experience, of which at least 2 years were in a supervisory capacity.
