We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Direct Support Professional. In the position, you will play a vital role in helping our clients with intellectual, cognitive, or developmental disabilities achieve their highest level of independence. Direct Support Professional Responsibilities 

  • Performing personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, and ambulation, medical monitoring, and health care related tasks. Fostering positive relationships between individuals served and their housemates
  • Ensuring client safety and maintaining a safe environment
  • Assisting with toileting, including bedpans, urinals, and commode chairs
  • Reminding/assisting client with self-administration of medications (with proper training)
  • Encouraging self-help activities
  • Reporting changes in client's condition or family situation to the office
  • Documenting services provided
  • Performing home management functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and cleaning
  • Planning meals, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, feeding and clean-up
  • Accompanying client to scheduled appointments
  • Transporting clients or running errands for clients

Specific Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school degree/GED
  • Valid driver's license (in most cases)
  • Ability to work in home-like settings
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company
  • Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time
Additional Information

New Hire Sign-On Bonus Program Agreement available for September and October 2018.Eligibility: ResCare wants to reward newly hired employees by offering them a Sign-On bonus. The bonus will consist in the amount of $1000. The first payout will be $250 at 90 days, $250 at 180 days and a final payout at 365 days of service in the amount of $500, for a total payout of $1000. To be eligible for the payout each period, the new employee MUST be in good standing by meeting the below criteria. If the criteria required are not satisfied, the bonus will not be paid out. You must be a current active employee at each payout period to be eligible for that corresponding payout. If you do not meet one of the following requirements below during one of the payout periods, you will not qualify for that payout. However, you will still be eligible for the next occurring payout if the requirements are met and are an active employee.Requirements:1. All required training is completed and up to date during payout period.2. No corrective actions from management during payout period. (1st Written disqualifies)3. Current active employee during payout period. Must be a full -time employee (40 hrs)
