As a(n) Director, Payroll - Cash Disbursements Systems you will: 

The Director, Cash Disbursements Systems serves as a key member of our payroll/AP department reporting directly to the Vice President-Cash Disbursements.

Essential Responsibilities/Job Duties

  • Manage multi-state payroll functions to approximately 50,000 employees across the U.S. and throughout Puerto Rico
  • Manage time and attendance, labor and payroll costs and ensuring compliance of internal controls and Federal, State and local laws
  • Manage vendor relationships (specifically ADP and Oracle)
  • Partner with the V.P. in the planning and coordination of integrated quarterly and year end processing, 1099, W-2 and W-2c processing
  • Maintains oversight and responsibility for month end close processes
  • Coordinates all payroll related functions relative to the acquisition of new businesses/operations
  • Serve as Project Leader on ad hoc projects as directed by the V.P.
  • Provide active audit oversight  
  • Coordinates appropriate project resources internal and external.
  • Establishes and maintains communications with all departments and individuals involved in assigned projects, including coordinating external vendors and consultants as appropriate.
  • Manages full scope of project management functions including project documentation, project deliverables, design documentation, periodic status reports, and management presentations related to business needs including mergers and acquisitions
  • Ensures all established deadlines and milestones are met, and tracks and reports project status.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education, Experience and Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) strongly preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing a large payroll (20,000+) in a multi-state environment preferred
  • Minimum 10 years leading/directing a payroll/AP team preferred
  • Experience with ADP payroll outsourcing
  • Must be able to travel up to 30%
  • Multi-state knowledge of payroll and payroll tax principles, practices, regulations and procedures required.
  • Experience with Oracle, ADP, and Kronos systems preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office. 
  • Microsoft Excel power user, including pivot tables, macros, array formulas, data tables, etc.
  • Experience in working with large databases and data

  • Exercises independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work according to applicable regulations, company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to utilize new tools and technologies in a rapidly changing environment.
  • A working knowledge of current industry trends, standards and practices.
  • Must be solutions-oriented and have exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve routine and advanced system technical issues, involving other resources when necessary.
  • Ability to work under pressure, and adjust to changing priorities, circumstances and direction required.
