Employment Consultant - WFS Responsibilities
  • Interprets and documents the results of assessment tools for participants; 
  • Provides individual and group vocational counseling and case management activities related to supportive services and barriers to employment; 
  • Develops and updates participant employment plan in conjunction with participants; 
  • Provides career exploration and labor market information activities; 
  • Maintains referral network with other human service agencies in the community and makes the appropriate referrals to other programs, community organizations, etc.; 
  • Identifies potential available employment positions for participants from the active database; 
  • Provides counseling and intervention case management services to assist the participant in successfully completing their compliance period and to continue to be in compliance by meeting required work participation hours; 
  • Maintains regular contact with participants in accordance with program requirements including identifying barriers and assisting the participant in developing strategies to manage those issues; 
  • Facilitates supportive services for participants to overcome barriers such as child care, transportation, and work related expenses; 
  • Responsible for the day-to-day record keeping of participant work activities to ensure program compliance; 
  • Develops and maintains an inventory of available employment positions and works to place participants in unsubsidized employment; 
  • Conducts structured Job Search/Job Club activities; identifies, establishes, maintains, and continues to expand available employment positions including developing specialized positions based on participant needs; 
  • Performs regular visits to each employer to maintain and strengthen relationships; 
  • Consults with employers and participants, as needed, to resolve any job performance situations before they become problems;
  • Maintains accurate, updated information in the participant database and participant case files; deliver career and training services

Specific Requirements

Minimum education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus three years directly related work experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Workforce industry certifications a plus.
  • Must successfully attain certification in ResCare’s customer experience program within 90 days of hire and ResCare’s Career Consultant Certification within 6 months of hire.


  • In depth knowledge of workforce regulations, policies and procedures; experience serving persons with multiple barriers to employment; commitment to customer-focused service delivery system; strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the Company, experience in managing systems, processes and people; must pass  a background check and drug test; must have a valid Driver’s License with a DMV rating of low-risk; must have a personal vehicle in good operating condition and current automobile liability insurance.  

Additional Information

Work one-on-one with job ready customers to facilitate placement and retention in self-sufficient employment; work closely with the WDB Business Services Liaisons and regional employer services team to educate employers currently hiring of financial and non-financial resources, including how to use the job posting and matching technology; follow up with the employer and connect them with the qualified candidates; input and maintain employer contacts and ongoing communication with WDB specific employer database; analyze the job market; identify employers, industries, and job opportunities in the community and encourage employers to post open positions; facilitates group workshops and networking groups for job ready customers focused on obtaining employment, job retention and career advancement.
