Mental Health Coordinator Responsibilities

To work collaboratively with parents, staff, Mental Health professionals and the larger community in the delivery of mental health services to the student population.  Works as part of the mental health team to coordinate mental health services for those identified as having different mental health needs.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Makes a regular schedule for the Consultant's (MHC) visits.
  • Schedules for MHC to be available for individual consultations for parents and students and to make referrals, and post dates in advance.
  • Allows the MHC to review the developmental screening to identify concerns or delays and give recommendations for follow up.
  • Ensures that the MHC Recommendations Report is submitted after each visit.
  • Ensures staff is trained in the Mental Health Services at Pre-Service and In-Service, according to the training requirements.
  • Follows the Bi-Weekly Staffing Procedures.
  • Ensures the maintenance of required program records and follows Filing Procedures.
  • Ensures strict confidentiality.
  • Ensures all Mental Health resources are updated and available.
  • Assists the transition of students receiving Mental Health Services to their next destination, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Specific Requirements


  • Bachelor or Associates in Psychology or other related field, preferred. Preferred bilingual, with oral and written skills in Spanish and English.


  • Ability to present a positive image of the organization to members of the community. Must have effective communication skills, both oral and written, and strong organizational, problem solving and time management skills. Ability to observe and record information including non-verbal information.
