National Contracts Manager Responsibilities

The National Contracts Manager is responsible for defining and communicating the rules of contract expectations. The main function of this position is to collaborate with sales leadership to ensure contract terms support strategic operational goals.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with sales leadership to ensure contract terms support strategic operational goals
  • Identify and source national contract or provider network opportunities
  • Coordinate initiatives with the National Sales VP of Strategic account
  • Evaluate existing contracts for opportunities to increase rates and volume
  • Develop pipeline & timeline for key accounts and in-services
  • Negotiate favorable terms and volume of business
  • Participate in trade shows to drive business
  • Define and communicate the rules of contract expectations
  • Determine challenges of current contracts and develop methods to expand ResCare services to provide solutions
  • Listen to challenges and communicate requirements of contracts to field
  • Renegotiate increase rates; Be insightful about rate negotiation for challenging cases
  • Communicate and report progress updates to operational leaders; collaborate with operations for strategic planning and rate updates.
  • Partner with leadership team to effectively strategize  and align with operational goals

Specific Requirements

Education, Experience and Certification

  • Must have executive level knowledge of contract management
  • Must be self-motivated and able to think out of the box with outstanding written and verbal communications skills, strong leadership and problem solving skills
  • Experience in health/home care, human services and/or other medical outside sales is a plus
  • College degree or equivalent, marketing and public relations experience, 3-5 years of brand development experience, 3-5 years of health care contract management
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism and quality standards
  • Existing payor relationships are a plus

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently with little direction
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Public speaking skill is a plus
  • Excellent follow-up and relationship building skills are a must

Working Conditions

  • This position is a travel-based sales management position. Travel within designated territory with a valid driver’s license is required.
  • Individual must have the ability to stand and work or have mobility through mechanical assistance. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds. Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
