Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist (RWW) Responsibilities

Assists the person served toward maximum communication and cognitive abilities, through diagnosis and treatment of speech/language deficits.

  • Performs a comprehensive evaluation using appropriate evaluation and assessment tools and procedures.
  • Reviews patient records for current diagnosis, past medical history, precautions & contraindications
  • Establishes measurable goals and develops treatment plan to meet goals
  • Regularly assesses effectiveness of treatment plan, progress of patient towards goals and  the need for modifying goals or treatment
  • Reports patient progress to the treatment team, person receiving services, family members, insurers, as applicable.
  • Provides treatment progress and status documentation in accordance with the plan of treatment.
  • Consults with medical providers regarding patient evaluation & treatment, progress of the patient & discharge from treatment.  
  • Maintains and submits evaluation and treatment documentation in the format and timelines required by the Company, facility, funding source, local, state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains the highest standards of professional conduct in relation to information that is confidential in nature.  Shares information only when the recipient’s right to access is clearly established and the sharing of such information is clearly in the best interest of the person served.
  • Adheres to and participates in Company’s mandatory HIPAA privacy program/practices and Business Ethics and Compliance programs /practices.
  • Attends, participates in and/or conduct internal staff development programs, obtains continuing education as required by company policy and regulations.  Maintains and enhances clinical practice skills. 
  • Maintains a professional appearance, is reliable and punctual, cooperative and conducts self according to accepted standards of professional practice in the course of assigned duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in response to the person serviced, office, and/or program needs.

Specific Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology, or the equivalent is required.
  • Maintains a Speech Language Pathologist license as required by the state in which the therapist practices.
  • Maintains current CPR certification.   
  • Demonstrates effective and professional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and part of a team
  • Demonstrates strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Successfully completes any/all required pre-employment evaluation test(s) per policy in each assigned area of practice
