Program Director (AmeriPsych) Responsibilities

The Program Director is responsible for the ongoing oversight and management of the day to day operations of all programs currently operating in his/her assigned region. Programs may include Parent Aide, In-home Family Support, and/or Foster Care.

The Program Director:

  • Ensures that assigned programs are implemented with optimal quality and efficiency within ResCare’s policies and procedures.
  • Provides programmatic and administrative leadership and direction to program staff of various qualifications.
  • Develops, implements and manages program-specific budgets.
  • Acts as the primary liaison with state, contract, and regulatory entities for assigned region; ensures timely completion & submission of state and contract-required reports.
  • Coordinates the recruitment and retention of program supervisors and staff.
  • Assists the human resources department in implementing personnel policies and practices at the operational level; participates in marketing and outreach initiatives and activities for assigned programs.
  • Directly supervises program supervisors of assigned locations.
  • Is available to program staff after hours to assist in responding to urgent and/or crisis situations.

As a member of the agency leadership team, this position plays a key role in the development and ongoing promotion of ResCare’s and AmeriPsych’s mission, vision,
philosophy, and culture.

Specific Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, child development, or related field, plus 4 years experience working with children and families in a behavioral health or child welfare setting required
  • Experience in homebased settings preferred.
  • Additional experience in the field may substitute for a bachelors degree in a field not listed.
  • Two years experience in supervising personnel required.
  • Must be able to effectively read, speak, and write using the English language.
  • Working knowledge of financial budgets, forecasts, and assigned services is preferred.
  • Successful experience in program development and implementation preferred.
  • Must meet all ADHS and DCS licensing and contractual requirements, including having a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card and passing background checks with no criminal history.
  • Must have valid driver’s license from state of residence with a satisfactory driving record as defined by ResCare’s vehicle policy and/or liability insurance carrier and valid vehicle registration and insurance.
  • Must possess considerable initiative, judgment, creativity, enthusiasm and leadership ability.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, problem solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to consistently represent the agency in a professional manner.
  • Be adept in problem solving skills and able to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner and interact with people of all ages in a supportive manner; and have a clear understanding of administrative policies and procedures regarding client and program management and structure, and regulatory and licensing standards, with ability to effectively implement them at a departmental and programmatic level.
  • Must be flexible with work schedule and job duties, with the ability to effectively meet changing priorities and deadlines.
