Rehabilitation Psychologist Per Diem - Rehab Without Walls Responsibilities
  • Abides by and demonstrates the company Mission-Vision-Values through both behavior and job performance on a day-to-day basis.
  • Provide empirically based psychological interventions to the person receiving services and his/her family as appropriate for their specific needs in order to maximize and encourage their participation with the community at large. Interventions may include cognitive behavorial interventions, problem solving focused interventions, addressing adjustment processes and coping, psychoeducation, stress management, wellness promotion, compensatory strategies, pain management as well as programmatic outcomes.
  • Performs brief neurobehavioral assessments at various stages in the rehabilitation process as appropriate. Provide feedback to the person served, family and treatment team with regards to behavioral, emotional, psychological, cognitive and neuropsychological rehabilitation issues, test results and practical applications.
  • Designs community reintegration activities to assist the person receiving services with their psychological/cognitive needs during physical activity. Assist the person receiving services in understanding their needs and limitation and how to manage them during function.
  • Performs a thorough evaluation, assessing the needs of the person receiving services and set measureable objectives that are formulated in conjunction with the rehabilitation team. Adjust treatment to achieve maximum results.
  • Responsible for applying professional knowledge and skills in accordance with the accepted standardsof clinical practice, to facilitate problem resolutions, and thereby the achievement of individualized goals and outcomes for the person served.
  • Provides treatment progress and status documentation in accordance with the Plan of Treatment.
  • Reports progress to the rehabilitation staff, person receiving services and family members. Observes/documents and reports changes in the condition of the person served to the Clinical Coordinator/designee, attending physician and other treatment team members as appropriate.
  • Participates in the team process, provide input and effective treatment strategies. Attends case conference and family educational meetings.
  • Develops, teaches and assesses the plan of treatment. Guides the Rehabilitation Specialist/Certified Nursing Assistant in fullfillment of the plan. Use appropriate methods and tools in all teaching and training activities, including those associated with discharge.
  • Maintains the highest standards of professional conduct in relation to information that is confidential in nature. Shares information only when the recipient's right to access is clearly established and the sharing of such information is clearly in the best interest of the person served.
  • Collects and documents items necessary for the organization to complete, thorough and effective program evaluation and program improvement.
  • Attends, participates in and/or conducts internal staff development programs, obtaining continuing education as required by Company policy and regulations. Maintains and enhances clinical practice skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in response to the person served, office and/or program needs.
  • Adheres to and participates in Company's mandatory HIPPA privacy program/practices and Business Ethics and Compliance programs/practices.
  • Reviews and adheres to all Company policies and procedures and the Employee Handbook.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Specific Requirements

  • The successful Rehabilitation Psychologist must successfully complete any/all required pre-employment evaluation tests per policy in each assigned area of practice.
  • Good organizational and communication skills are needed.
  • Ability to function with minimum supervision.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • The candidate will have the physical ability to perform job related duties which may require lifting, standing, bending, stooping, stretching, walking, pushing and pulling with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary responsibility satisfactorily.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • PhD in Clinical Psychology, Rehabilitation Psychology or Counseling Psychology.
  • One year of post doctoral training in Rehabilitation Psychology plus a minimum of three years clinical experience in the assessment and management of physical or cognitive disability including traumatic brain injury or related neurological conditions.
  • Knowledge of complex neurologic injury and orthopedic rehabilitation techniques generally required.
  • Maintenance of professional license and/or certification as required by the state in which the therapist practices.
  • Effective communication skills required.
