Revenue Cycle Manager Responsibilities

Controls all activities in the accounts receivable functions. Manages collection activities such as sending follow-up inquiries, negotiating with past due accounts, keeping track of cash receipts and referring accounts to collection agencies. Ensures accurate receivable records and verifies outstanding account balances. Creates financial reports relating to account receivable function and status of accounts.  Audits methods and procedures of accounts receivable function to improve efficiency. Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Reviews aging reports with the AR Coordinators and Regional Finance Director to resolve denial of claims.
  • Reviews aging reports for high dollar accounts. 
  • Provides direction in the collection of all assigned accounts.
  • Communicates any issues and problems related to aging reports and collections to the Regional Finance Director.
  • Notifies management of problems and issues with the department as they arise.
  • Offers plans for corrective action and solutions.
  • Improves processes within department emphasizing quality and efficiency. 
  • Anticipates and resolves problems demonstrating good judgment.
  • Provides leadership in developing and implementing solutions.
  • Provides training of system applications with AR Coordinators, Regional Finance Director and other staff.
  • Provides technical support of all systems to AR Coordinators in the areas of collections, claims processing and reports. 
  • Oversees the training of new staff. Assigns roles for each AR Coordinator based upon his/her expertise. Coordinates with Regional Finance Director for any off  site training as it relates to the Accounts Receivable responsibilities.  Distributes bulletins and policy/contract changes to appropriate staff.
  • Oversees the electronic and manual billing processing of claims.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Specific Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree of accounting,  finance or  Business Management  or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 to 5 years supervisory experience required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the related area as an individual contributor preferred.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and have working knowledge of financial software programs. (AS400, HCS, Oracle, Zirmed, preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge of revenue cycle.
  • Must possess exceptional organizational and communication skills and be able to manage numerous areas of responsibilities.
  • Must be able to function well as a member of a team and must demonstrate leadership and supervisory skills.
