As a(n) RN - Texas Hill Country School you will: 

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing care and treatment for children and adolescents who have been unsuccessful in other settings and have become disillusioned with learning and life.  We accept children and adolescents, ages 6-22, with Acquired Brain Injuries, Developmental Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorders, and a host of other neurological and psychological problems. 

The Registered Nurse:
 * Provides rehabilitation and coordinates medical needs for clients as identified in treatment/health plans.
 * Medication Monitoring and Administration of prescribed medications.
 * Attends and actively participates in weekly team meetings and service delivery models.
 * Orders, reviews, monitors, and discontinues medications as ordered by the physician.
 * Conducts assessments.
 * Coordinates psychiatric information with the psychiatric rehabilitation practitioners.
 * Writes progress notes, summaries, and discharges.
 * Provides and arranges necessary medical services to ensure consumer health and safety.
 * Reports significant/major incidents or accidents.
 * Informs the physician and staff of changes in the client's medical or mental condition and needs.
 * Medication training for staff.
 * Performs competency and skills evaluations on employees who provide direct care.
 * Assists with ensuring compliance with contractual, legal and regulatory requirements.
 * Performs other duties designed to improve employee effectiveness as a member of the team.  
 * Assists in maintaining and updating nursing, pharmacy, infection control, and health and safety policies and procedures.
 * Other tasks as assigned.
 

Position Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Holds a bachelor's degree in nursing or related health and human services field from an accredited college or university with at least 2,000 hours of experience with adult persons who have a serious psychiatric disability
  • OR holds an RN from an accredited two-year program and has more than 6,000 hours of experience with adult persons who have a serious psychiatric disability
  • Valid driver's license and insurance required
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Experience in managing systems, processes, and people
  • Operate general office equipment
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Capable of working responsibly with high confidential information
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team
