Special Education Teacher - Texas Hill Country School Responsibilities

Provide special instruction to students in compliance with school-system and program requirements, state and federal regulations.

  • Implements an instructional, therapeutic and skill development program for differentiated learning levels.
  • Conducts formal and informal assessments of all students.
  • Plans and uses appropriate instructional strategies to include the integration of activities, materials and equipment that align with the accommodations as set in the student’s IEP.
  • Plans and supervises assignments for staff members assisting with students.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate, open lines of communication with all parties to include but not limited to students, therapists, school district personnel, parents and co-workers.
  • Attends all required meetings and trainings offered by program.
  • Completes required documentation within timelines, including recording of grades and attendance.
  • Models appropriate behavior for the students.
  • Maintains the highest standards of professional conduct in relation to information that is confidential in nature. Shares information only when recipient's right to access is clearly established and sharing of such information is in the best interest of the patient.
  • Adheres to and participates in Company’s mandatory HIPAA and FERPA privacy program/practices and Business Ethics and Compliance programs/practices.
  • Abides by and demonstrates the company’s Mission, Vision, and Values through both behavior and job performance on a day-to-day basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Specific Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and holds current state certification as Special Education Teacher in state providing the service.
  • Minimum of one year experience working with children with disabilities
  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is preferred
  • Understand and have knowledge of the provided curriculum, Unique Learning
  • Able to co-teach and work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • Demonstrates excellent attendance, organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrates effective and professional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
