About this Line of Business

The Wellness, Comprehensive Assessment, Rehabilitation and Employment (WeCARE) Program provides a continuum of integrated services that evaluate the abilities and address the needs of Cash Assistance (CA) clients with medical and/or mental health condition(s) that may affect their employability. Clinical assessment processes determine clients’ functional capacity outcomes and ability to achieve the goals of wellness and employment or to apply for and receive federal disability benefits.

The WeCARE program has been successful in assisting thousands of New York City clients with clinical barriers achieve self-sufficiency. ResCare Workforce Services is a funded provider for WeCARE services through the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA).

As a(n) Staff Accountant - WeCARE you will: 

  • Provides support to the Project Accountant and Human Resources Coordinator as assigned
  • Assists in processing requests for posting and filling positions and with coordination of the candidate screening, selection, and interviewing processes
  • Ensures proper budget authorization exists for positions to be filled
  • Trains all staff on use and reconciliation of the electronic timekeeping system
  • Assists in the preparation of human resources and payroll reports 
  • Assists in tracking staff development and performance review activities
  • Analyzes and interprets financial and human resource policies and procedures for management and supervisors
  • Maintains human resources and financial records in alignment with RWS and/or HRA policies
  • Assists with compilation of information for external reviews of financial or human resources activities
  • Collects documents and coordinates any needed reviews of human resources activities (e.g. Unemployment Compensation claims, Worker’s Compensation filings)
  • Assists with proper coding, documentation, and recording of accounts payable
  • Prepares and analyzes monthly reports related to financial and human resources activities
  •  Assist with the close process and related financial review

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, accounting, finance, human relations, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three to five years accounting and/or human resources management experience
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial management and human resource management reports
  • Experience in implementing financial management policies and procedures
  • Proficient computer skills, using various systems to carry out responsibilities
  • Must have excellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work across all levels of management and staff.
