Talent Development Specialist - WFS Responsibilities

Assists program participants in developing vocational goals reflective of their skills, capabilities and interests. Manages participant progress towards achieving goals by creating and updating plans.

  • Meets with participants to identify barriers to employment and develop strategies to manage these issues.
  • Maintains complete, accurate and timely case notes and related records in manual and or electronic systems.
  • Outreach to referrals who fail to show for appointment.
  • Eligibility determination, data entry and case management
  • May conduct orientations for outreach purposes
  • Maintain contact with customer and employers for work experience activities
  • May assist with guidance for vocational training activities, support service’s needs
  • Create update and ensure completion of plans according to contract deadlines.
  • Attends scheduled supervision meetings to discuss participants progress.
  • Other duties as assigned

Specific Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or a satisfactory equivalent of education and experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge about community resources.
  • Able to work with and relate to participants and be culturally sensitive.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be computer literate and have MS Word and Excel skills at minimum, and the ability to learn specialized databases and software systems
  • Bilingual a plus

Additional Information

• Responsible for meeting with the customer and accurately completing all formal certification of applicants and documentation following appropriate guidelines as required by various government programs or agencies such as WIOA programs.• Schedules appointments and follow-up on “no-shows”.• Enters, edits, and retrieves data from SCWOS database, and performs data reconciliation to ensure accuracy. Assist in program group or individual orientations and informational workshops.• Attend meetings/trainings and community events outside the center and on occasion evenings and weekends as required.• Compute financial data• Counsels and assists Program’s customers regarding job search strategies, personal career advisement and training issues, identifying and working with barriers to employment, professional goal setting and planning. Identify outside resources, programs and other services for customers if neededin a clear, concise, and timely manner• Maintains knowledge/professional understanding of a vast array of occupations/career paths (for effective placement/processing and assessment of customers as well as determining services most appropriate for their career goals• Provides motivational support to customers during the job search process• Identifies training needs and ensures appropriate training• Facilitates job readiness/search workshops• Demonstrates strong strategies for re-engaging customers after training and finding employment for those customersparticipants• Successfully documents customer success stories internally and externally.• Analyzes and constructs critiques of resumes/required documentation for effective processing for customer eligibility
